About The Position

Under supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and mechanical equipment essential to the operation of the Divisions and Districts. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer.

Requirements

Educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school.
Knowledge of electrical systems.
Basic knowledge of plumbing.
Knowledge of simple arithmetic and basic mechanics.
Air conditioning and heating experience.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, and to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to learn street and highway names/numbers within the District.

Universal certification per EPA requirements for refrigerant recovery and recycle as described in Section 608 of the Clean Air Act within 180 calendar days of hire or promotion.
Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker (“N”) endorsement within 180 calendar days of hire or promotion.
