About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. The position involves utilizing and expanding drafting skills within a multi-disciplined team environment. Responsibilities include preparing design drawings based on input, applying computer-aided drafting skills, and receiving hands-on training in 3D design software like AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation. Tasks involve creating scale drawings showing proposed installations relative to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions. Opportunities may arise to accompany experienced designers on walkdowns to gather information and to explain drawings to vendors and construction contractors for design adjustments.

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
  • Six (6) or more years of physical design experience including experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, and electrical equipment location drawings.
  • Advanced drafting experience using standard computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
  • Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
  • Ability to multi-task from project to project.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design drawings based on design input.

  • Accompany and assist experienced designers on walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for design projects.
