About The Position

The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture. Reporting to the E&I Supervisor, the E&I Tech is responsible for maintaining and repairing production electrical equipment and instrumentation, infrastructure and other plant components in a safe and environmentally sound manner. The E&I Tech follows the PM schedule and completes workorders and emergent work as assigned. If required, E&I Tech will troubleshoot and complete emergent repairs as directed in order to meet plant production targets.

Requirements

  • Instrumentation degree from an accredited university or related degree field AND/OR hold an Electrical Journeyman License OR completed 3rd year of Electrical Apprenticeship with the State of Idaho or a state that has a reciprocal agreement with Idaho
  • 3+ years relevant experience, chemical plant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of logic systems such as Siemens, Modicon.
  • Knowledge of MCC’s, VFD’s, Servos.
  • Experience with conduit bending and installation per applicable codes.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent decision making skills prioritizing safety and environmental at all times.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with peers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to changing priorities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Able to be respirator fit test and wear as required
  • Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, flow, level measurement, and flow control valves, logic controls, and other equipment as required.
  • Maintain all required training prior to or no later than the due date and adhere to all plant Safety Policies at all times.
  • Maintain adequate safety and environmental work process controls to maintain high on-time task completion and quality for maintenance work.
  • Maintain calibrations for all applicable equipment.
  • Read and comprehend schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
  • Safely work with medium voltages, 480VAC, 277VAC, 240VAC, 208VAC, 120VAC, 3 phase, single phase, 24VDC, 122VDC, process signals 4-20 Ma, 0-10 VDC.
  • Set device parameters such as VFD’s, soft motor starts, motor contacts.
  • Use test equipment such as multi-meter, motor meggar, oscilloscope, 4-20 Ma meters, vibration meters, ultrasonic meters, hi-pot tester.
  • Monitor controls and electrical components to ensure effective and efficient service.
  • Perform tests and interpret results to ensure proper functionality.
  • Initiate work orders when applicable.
  • Be knowledgeable of predictive maintenance requirements and properly complete work order completion forms and maintenance management system entries as required.
  • Be self-sufficient with assigned work completion and work collaboratively with the area Supervisors.
  • Prioritize multiple activities to optimize maintenance efficiency.
  • Proactively prepare to efficiently complete assigned activities within planned durations.
