About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking individuals to join their team as Electrical Mechanic Trainees. This role offers exposure to various aspects of substation operation and maintenance. The trainee will work in a shop/warehouse environment, gaining experience in panel construction, wiring, and print reading. A successful completion of a 12-month training program is a requirement for this position. The company is particularly interested in considering United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to carry up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to work planned overtime when needed.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Computer application aptitude.
• Ability to work within a shop/warehouse environment.
• GED or HS diploma required.
• Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in CPR, First Aid, or AED.
• Previous experience in working with mechanical or electrical concepts and applications.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
• Successful completion of a 56-month Substation Electrician program.
• Background in construction or related work environments.
• Background in Electrical wiring and print reading.
• Technical/Associate's education is advantageous.
• Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for formal degrees or certificates.

Responsibilities

• Follow engineered drawings to construct/assemble electric substation panels.
• Inspect material and assist with putting away material.
• Assemble electrical system equipment.
• Assemble electronic wiring and equipment.
• Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools.
• Read electrical wire diagrams and engineering plans.
• Utilize teamwork in a factory environment.
• Operate a Forklift truck.
• Perform all duties as assigned.
