About The Position

This position is responsible for locating underground electric utilities. Receives and processes locate request; closes work orders upon completion. Locates and marks electric lines and infrastructure. Assists contractors in locating underground utilities. Responds to after-hours emergency requests. Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment. Maintain records of daily locates. Performs related duties.

Requirements

Knowledge of underground utility locating principles and practices.
Knowledge of map reading principles.
Knowledge of area streets and roads.
Skill in interpreting engineering reports, maps, and construction drawings.
Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in the preparation of reports.
Skill in oral and written communication.
A high school diploma or GED AND one (1) year of relevant utility locating, construction, or closely related experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Completion of Electrical Safety Training Program.
Possession of a valid driver’s license for the vehicle operating.
Must be able to work with hands rubber-gloved and with rubber sleeves.
May be exposed to high voltage, dangerous machinery, potential physical harm, extreme weather conditions, and infectious diseases.
May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
May be subject to call-out and/or call-back.
