About The Position

The Ecohouse Electrical Lead will oversee field electrical work, ensuring compliance with codes and maintaining the highest quality standards. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintenance and repair of solar power systems, ensuring that photovoltaic systems are correctly wired, connected, and operating safely and efficiently. This role involves working with solar modules, inverters, and electrical components to integrate solar energy systems into residential, commercial, or industrial applications. The Electrical Lead ensures that all electrical work complies with industry codes and safety standards, while also troubleshooting issues and conducting repairs when necessary. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical theory, a specialized understanding of solar technology, and the ability to work in a team to deliver high-quality solar installations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 + years’ electrical experience
  • Solar or similar construction/trade experience
  • OSHA certified
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Strong enthusiasm for renewable energy
  • Capable of lifting over 50 lbs and performing demanding physical tasks
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights, including on pitched roofs
  • Able to work in confined spaces like attics and crawlspaces
  • Open to working in various weather conditions
  • Self-driven and enthusiastic about learning
  • Focused on providing excellent customer service

Responsibilities

  • Support the oversight of field electrical installations, with direction from licensed electrician
  • Review electrical drawings and site-specific designs to prepare for construction
  • Install electrical equipment necessary for solar construction projects, including DC/AC wiring, junction boxes, conduit, inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, etc.
  • Interconnection of systems to the existing premises wiring
  • Troubleshoot issues with new and existing systems
  • Perform additional electric work, such as installation of subpanels or replacement of main service panels
  • Ensure compliance with National Electric Code and jurisdictional requirements
  • In partnership with electrical and construction managers, quality engineering manager, ensure installations are of high quality and consistent with industry standards
  • Support with all other solar installation responsibilities as needed by the business
