Role We are seeking an E&I Technician to join our Maintenance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical power, control, and instrumentation systems that support our operations. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, maintaining regulatory compliance, and enabling consistent production by proactively maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving site electrical and control systems. The role is based at Thacker Pass and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Technician, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of electrical and instrumentation experience in mining, chemicals manufacturing, heavy industrial, or process-driven environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical power distribution, control systems, and industrial instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control logic
  • Demonstrated ability to safely perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) and verify zero-energy states
  • Familiarity with MSHA and/or OSHA regulations, electrical codes, and industrial safety standards
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, overtime, and on-call rotations as required
  • Physically capable of working in industrial environments, including lifting up to 50 lbs., working at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc-flash and respiratory protection

Responsibilities

  • Performs all maintenance activities with a strong safety-first mindset, ensuring strict compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations along with site specific safety standards; actively identifies and mitigates observed hazards, conducts regular safety inspections of assigned areas, and fosters a culture where safe work practices and personal accountability are non-negotiable.
  • Champions site safety standards and promote open communication within group.
  • Install, inspect, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical power systems, control systems, and instrumentation supporting operations and fixed and mobile plant equipment
  • Diagnoses and resolves failures in motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, power distribution systems, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and associated instrumentation
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with CMMS schedules, including loop checks, instrument testing, thermography, vibration analysis, insulation testing, and system commissioning
  • Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control logic, and technical documentation to safely execute work
  • Supporting electrical installations, control system upgrades, automation improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and operational efficiency
  • Execute work in compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations, site safety standards, electrical codes, and company procedures
  • Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and verify zero-energy states prior to work execution
  • Participate in job safety analyses (JSAs) and pre-task risk assessments
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in electrical rooms and work areas
  • Accurately document work performed, findings, and corrective actions in maintenance management systems
  • Coordinate work activities with operations, planners, supervisors, and other maintenance trades to minimize downtime and support production continuity
  • Provide technical support during equipment breakdowns and production interruptions
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and technical guidance for junior technicians as required
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values
  • Perform other duties as assigned
