About The Position

WECTEC Staffing Services, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector – Solar & BESS to support the construction of a utility-scale solar and battery storage project in Hobbs, NM. This project involves a 72 MW and 124 MW solar facility with an integrated battery energy storage system. The inspector will be responsible for overseeing electrical construction activities, ensuring EPC contractors adhere to project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements throughout the project lifecycle. This is a 100% onsite position with a typical schedule of 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, averaging 50 hours per week, with overtime as needed. The company provides per diem at applicable GSA rates and a monthly travel allowance. Relocation assistance is not available, and employees are expected to live near the project site at their own expense.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of electrical construction, inspection, or commissioning experience.
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical installation practices, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safety culture.
  • Ability to work with contractors, construction managers, and project team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field oversight of EPC contractors performing electrical construction activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed following project specifications, contract requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor and inspect low- and medium-voltage electrical installations, including solar panel connections, tracker systems, inverters, wiring, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Verify proper installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems throughout the project.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support regarding construction methods, quality concerns, and electrical system performance.
  • Collaborate with construction management teams to resolve field issues.
  • Be the advocate for safety by promoting and enforcing safe work practices and compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings, field reviews, inspections, and quality assurance activities.
  • Document findings, communicate deficiencies, and support corrective action efforts.
