About The Position

Promote the company mission statement by assisting Project Managers (PM), Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers (APM), and other personnel in estimating, managing, scheduling, purchasing, and executing various types of construction projects/services. The Electrical Field Superintendent will be the foremost technical authority on all phases of a project, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and managing construction crews. This role involves extensive site visits, client interaction, proposal development, project planning, and execution, with a strong emphasis on leadership, communication, and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of jobsite supervision experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid state-issued license.
  • Satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Safe driving behavior.
  • Adherence to Driving and Truck Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Harper GC may be a plus.
  • Office experience of Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook) preferred.
  • Experience with Procore a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, support, and adhere to Harper ‘safety first’ culture.
  • Enforce Harper’s safety and quality programs and correct violations as they arise on project sites.
  • Represent Harper in a professional manner on job sites, meetings, trade shows, etc.
  • Assist Project Manager in estimating, coordinating, planning, and scheduling construction projects.
  • Be the foremost technical authority on all phases of a project.
  • Maintain a high level of professional ethics and demand the same of all employees.
  • Adhere to systems, initiatives, OPLs, near misses, mission statements, etc.
  • Utilize Procore Management Software to its fullest extent for all phases of construction project.
  • Attend and participate in corporate, division, and project meetings.
  • Manage up to 3 construction crews consisting of 3-4 persons each. Coordinate upcoming schedules for crews with PM and effectively communicate schedules to crews.
  • Train and equip employees on a regular basis. Educate employees with technical knowledge required on a project-level basis.
  • Gauge labor needs; interview and recommend personnel for hire as needed.
  • Motivate the work force, reward employees for good work, and take appropriate measures when work is below standard.
  • Immediately address all quality or production issues.
  • Initiate formal and informal feedback conversations regarding employee futures, goals, concerns, complaints, conflicts, and performance.
  • Schedule site visits with clients to review potential projects in a timely manner.
  • Develop a scope of work narrative based upon site visit, identifying safety measures, manpower, materials, equipment, and project schedule.
  • Identify critical path and draft corresponding schedule.
  • Communicate with and assist PM through process of drafting Proposals / Estimates for potential projects. Review proposals prior to distribution to client.
  • Routinely schedule site visits with established clients to identify future projects.
  • Serve as the foremost technical authority for all proposals. Provide Project Management team with necessary knowledge to build an accurate estimate, schedule, and proposal.
  • Review upcoming projects onsite with clients prior to mobilization.
  • Identify and report changes in scope or site conditions so that Harper may pursue and recover fair compensation for changes.
  • Identify and report potential RFIs that need to be answered prior to mobilization.
  • Review submittals for any permanent materials and/or process equipment prior to mobilization. Ensure crews are prepared and equipped to install appropriately.
  • Review executed commitments for Trade Partners that are a part of upcoming work to understand their contractual responsibilities.
  • Lead Trade Partner coordination meetings, as necessary.
  • Review proposals and/or relevant contract documents for upcoming work.
  • Identify material needs based upon project documents. Perform takeoffs as necessary. Coordinate materials delivery with teammates to ensure master schedule is not interrupted.
  • Review palletized project specific materials, tools and equipment prior to mobilization.
  • Identify and report additional expendables, tools and/or rental equipment needed prior to mobilization.
  • Identify and report additional material needs prior to mobilizing.
  • Assist in scheduling upcoming work with PM and Clients to satisfy project requirements.
  • Prepare relevant documentation for crews prior to mobilization (Pre-Task Planning Sheets, Toolbox Talks, Relevant Safety Near Misses, Injury Alerts, and/or One Point Lessons).
  • Collaborate with and schedule safety personnel as necessary for upcoming work.
  • Always represent Harper in a professional manner. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, engineers, architects, and inspectors.
  • Enter project with understanding of budgeted costs for manpower, equipment, etc. Monitor costs throughout all phases of project.
  • Serve as the foremost technical authority on projects. This includes tasking out internal employees with project responsibilities, answering questions as they arise, and teaching employees how to perform project related activities.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure consistency in workmanship and specifications. Responsible for correct initial completion of work by crew.
  • Enter timecards for Harper personnel. Ensure accuracy with Project Manager.
  • Prepare, execute, and document appropriate safety paperwork (Pre-Task Planning Sheets, Toolbox Talks, Relevant Safety Near Misses, Injury Alerts, and/or One Point Lessons).
  • Perform weekly inspections on Procore Management Software: Equipment, Safety, Daily Logs, Photos, etc.
  • Hold Trade Partners, suppliers, and field service providers accountable for the safety, productivity, and quality of their work.
  • Schedule and task out internal crews for construction activities. Hold internal crews accountable for their safety, production, and quality. Ensure work is completed in a timely manner compatible with master schedule.
  • Understand and resolve design conflicts (Trade Partners, architects, engineers). Know how to effectively issue an RFI.
  • Punctual written documentation of changes in the field with supporting pictures and sketches.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports through Expensify Software weekly.
  • Coordinate and schedule routine inspections with local authority and project representatives.
  • Daily supervise all Trade Partners, vendors, consultants, and Assistant Superintendents to ensure adequate manpower and compliant work.
  • Monitor project security personnel.
