About The Position

Axia Electric, a subsidiary of Shimmick Construction, is seeking a talented Electrical Field Engineer for the Port of Seattle Project. This role will support the execution of electrical scopes, including the installation and commissioning of feeders, conduits, and outlets for new electrical infrastructure and substations to provide shore power. The project requires maintaining full terminal operations throughout construction. Axia Electric, established in the early 1990s and rebranded in 2025, specializes in electrical, instrumentation, and process controls for various infrastructure projects such as water and wastewater treatment, dams and locks, mass transit and rail, alternative energy, power generation and transmission, and commercial buildings. Headquartered in Riverside, California, Axia Electric focuses on large public owner projects across multiple states and markets, including significant projects like the North City Pure Water Facility and the EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Prior internships involving Rail, Transit, and/or Water/Wastewater construction projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders.
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria’s to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.
  • Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.
  • Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.
  • Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
  • Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.
  • Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).
  • Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.
  • Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.
  • Assisting with community outreach duties as needed.
  • Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.
  • Undertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers.
  • Having a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets.
