About The Position

The Electrical Estimator will prepare estimates on electrical construction projects. In addition, the Estimator may provide technical support to project operations with emphasis on estimating, reporting and monitoring progress and dealing with project change.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, estimating, project management, construction engineering technology.
  • Experience in the electrical trade may substitute for education requirements.
  • 1-3 years’ of experience estimating electrical construction projects, with additional experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Construction scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cost Estimating.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Established electrical practices, procedures and techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Blueprint reading.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Accubid.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, engineers and contractors in the industry.
  • Prepare estimates of costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine scope and requirements.
  • Factor in overhead, insurance, taxes, and contingencies into estimates.
  • Identify potential cost risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to align estimates with project goals.
  • Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects regarding tenders.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather field data, tender review, and tender hand-off.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, labor rates, and material costs.
  • Recommend improvements to estimating procedures and tools.
  • Evaluate completed projects to refine future estimating accuracy.
