About The Position

The Electrical Estimator will assist in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for upcoming commercial electrical projects. This role is ideal for someone who has commercial electrical experience from working in the field.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in electrical estimating, specifically within commercial electrical projects
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, site management, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge with Bluebeam, Conest, Accubid for digital document review and markup is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and their application in project planning.
  • Demonstrated ability in negotiation with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to optimize costs.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on electrical construction site experience is a plus, providing valuable insight into field operations.
  • Technical electrical training from an accredited school
  • 3+ years hands on field experience as an electrician

Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop detailed electrical estimates.
  • Perform quality take-offs for materials, equipment and labor
  • Prepare estimates, proposals and bid packages
  • Maintain and update pricing, vendor lists and material cost information
  • Request and evaluate quotes from suppliers
  • Utilize estimating software such as Conest and Bluebeam to prepare accurate cost proposals.
  • Analyze electrical system requirements in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing information.
  • Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Monitor project budgets during execution to ensure cost control and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure smooth transition from estimating to operations
  • Collaborate with construction management teams to evaluate potential risks and develop mitigation strategies related to electrical scope estimates.
  • Maintain organized records of all estimating documentation for future reference and audits.
  • Work with project managers, service managers, and project foreman on change orders and costs to complete estimates of on going projects
  • Communicate effectively with the general contractor, owner and/or owners representative through negotiations
