About The Position

Pillar Innovations is an Industrial Solutions and Service Company with over 15 years of experience in the Energy, Mining, Manufacturing, Industrial Construction, Aggregate, and Renewables Industries. The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country. The general role of the Electrical Estimator is to provide project pricing, estimates and proposals to support the efforts of the Electrical Team and to cultivate new business through customer relations. The Estimator may also assist in the scheduling, bill of materials (BOM’s), and overall coordination of projects, which can include but not be limited to the following: availability of personnel, resources, and materials; required tooling and equipment, and provide project start-up support to the Project Manager assigned to the job. This position will regularly communicate and coordinate with the Electrical Department management and managers within various departments to support the following industries such as: Industrial Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Factories, Plants, Coal, Wind Energy, Solar, Commercial, Residential, etc. This position will require a flexible schedule that includes extended hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Areas of operations include, but are not limited to: MD, PA, WV, and OH. The Electrical Estimator will report to the Divison Manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of electrical experience or equivalent/relevant education preferred
  • 2+ years of electrical estimating experience and/or electrical field experience is preferred
  • Ability to develop estimates from software programs, PDF drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and other documents
  • Possess a basic understanding of the National Electric Code
  • Possess advanced knowledge of personal computers and software packages including specific knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Possess highly developed organizational skills
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to excel under pressure and meet budget and project deadlines
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to effectively adapt to ever-changing and ever-emerging customer needs
  • Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
  • Ability to effectively present information and coordinate with cross-functional teams to accomplish common goals

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in site visits, as required, prior to submitting a bid
  • Prepare pricing estimates for new projects, add-on work, and change orders on existing projects
  • Read, understand, and incorporate bid instructions and detailed specifications in each estimate
  • Define and develop Scop of Work documents for bids
  • Prepare and submit bids with all required bidding documents
  • Prepare an accurate “take off” of materials, labor, equipment, and delivery costs to provide thorough estimates
  • Prepare preliminary project schedules for submittal with bid, as required
  • Prepare and provide all necessary job information to ensure successful “hand-off” of estimates to Project Managers
  • Communicate with customers to assess needs and provide accurate and precise quotes
  • Cultivate relationships with vendors with an emphasis on increasing efficiencies and reducing costs
  • Communicate and coordinate with Project Managers to assist them in quoting and to seek their review and approvals of each bid prior to submittal
  • Participate in post-project reviews to identify opportunities for improved estimating
  • Identify potential problems and provide effective solutions and problem-resolution
  • Support field operations through a variety of administrative tasks as needed such as purchasing, material tracking, answering job related questions, etc.
