About The Position

Interstates is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join their team. This role is ideal for an electrician with field experience who is ready to transition to an office environment. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for developing timely and accurate cost estimates for a variety of industries and electrical installations. This position offers the opportunity to stay at the forefront of industry designs, codes, and electrical systems due to the diverse client base Interstates serves.

Requirements

  • Experience with the following software: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations; Voltage-drop, Ohm’s law, conduit-fill, wire ampacity, de-rating, etc. is a plus
  • Analytical, problem-solving mentality.
  • Team player, self-motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers and subordinates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Able to track and organize project and information.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Possesses sound judgement skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work.
  • 2 years of Electrical or Electrical Estimating experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education or experience in Estimating, Construction Management, Finance or Business Administration or other equivalent studies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates on which we base competitive bids and proposals for our client-base customers.
  • Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
  • Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
  • Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations.
  • Attend job walks; pre-bid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner.
  • Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
