About The Position

This position involves learning all activities required to effectively lay out work, install electrical apparatus, wiring, conduit, wire ways, and components to meet or exceed assembly requirements per design specifications and published schedules. The role also focuses on efficiently utilizing resources to minimize scrap, materials, and labor.

Requirements

  • 1 year certificate from a technical school or an accredited journeyman program and a minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend all forms of written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Effectively able to present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions or decimals.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of electrical measurements such as voltage, current, ohms, resistance, etc.
  • Ability to apply a common sense approach and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Fork lift and overhead crane training and certification also required.

Responsibilities

  • Strictly adhere to published company I.S.O. guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain and turn in accurate daily labor reports.
  • Strictly adhere to published Company safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Supply own hand tools per published list.
  • Become familiar with the operational aspects of all equipment assigned to the area, especially the various safety aspects such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, safety belts, lanyards, etc.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude to read, interpret, and assemble equipment utilizing standard documentation such as blueprints, sketches, bills of materials, or other authorized forms of instructions.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to identify all major components on equipment manufactured by the company.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to lay out work by measuring, marking dimensions and/or reference points on material or work piece.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to make proper electrical connections to meet print specifications and applicable codes such as: N.E.C. (National Electrical Code) or N.F.P.A. (National Fire Protection Association).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to verify proof of conformance of finished product to specifications.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to complete required relevant items on build checklist for each job.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to process all relevant “gig” list items and how to coordinate acceptance and signoff with check out department.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to identify various raw or processed electrical materials according to: type, gauge, sizing, or dimension.
  • Demonstrate the use of common, generally accepted measuring devices applicable to the area as required.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for how to select, set-up and adjust miscellaneous hand tools and equipment such as conduit benders, threaders, cut off saws, iron worker, wire holders, crimpers, cable cutters, etc.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for how to set up and operate stud guns.
  • Be able to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to safely operate overhead cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, or other various equipment to move material or product.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principals, capacities, and safety aspects of how to properly select, attach, and move materials and/or equipment with the appropriate lifting devices such as chains, clevises, or straps.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of stock locations and stores excess material properly and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in compliance with established company policies.
  • Be able to work with supervision and/or leadsmen to accomplish any given task.
  • Assist others as required.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for the principals and basics of electrical equipment assembly and installation of all major systems per required specifications.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for Vacuum and Atmosphere product nomenclatures and mechanical assembly practices of equipment.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to inspect and prepare components prior to assembly.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for general assembly practices related to types of conduits, wire ways, support bracketry, fittings, and seal tight.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for the general positioning of components and equipment.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to position and install components such as push buttons, nameplates, junction boxes, limit switches, limit switch actuators, temperature switches, various applicable switches and mounting brackets.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to perform wiring operations including installing terminals on sub-panels, installing wire numbers on terminals, cutting wire to length and installing wire numbers, and pulling wires to the appropriate component for interconnection.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to layout and install cutouts in small panels and control boxes.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to disconnect all temporary electrical utilities and store materials accordingly.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to mark or tag components and/or interconnecting systems such as conduit, wire ways, wiring, etc. to aid in the re-assembly or installation of equipment.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to disconnect and remove all permanent wiring, bundle, and properly tag or mark as required.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude of how to disconnect and remove all permanent wire ways and conduit as required.
  • Clean out all control panels, junction boxes, etc. prior to shipment.

  • Starting pay = $28.51 / hr. + $2.50 Shift Premium
