Electrical Engineers at the Assistant, Associate, and Engineer levels play a vital role in supporting NYPA’s mission to provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy to New Yorkers. These engineers help design, evaluate, and maintain electrical systems across generation facilities, transmission corridors, substations, metering systems, and customer side technologies. Work may include system studies, design updates, asset evaluations, field inspections, and reliability driven engineering tasks. Early career engineering opportunities at NYPA span both utility focused and customer focused work, offering exposure to construction engineering, grid modernization, renewable energy integration, and facility upgrades. Engineers in this pool may contribute to major statewide initiatives – such as transmission line expansions, clean energy interconnection projects, energy storage deployments, and smart grid enhancements. This posting allows NYPA to accept applications year round and match candidates to opportunities as they become available. Candidates are placed based on technical competencies, experience level, and interest areas. Roles at this level do not require a New York State PE license. At NYPA, your work truly matters – every project you support has a direct impact on people’s lives, from strengthening the grid to advancing the clean energy transition. You’ll join a team of professionals who collaborate across disciplines and contribute to high impact infrastructure that keeps New York running safely and efficiently. NYPA designs its benefits and work practices to support your life beyond the workplace, helping you thrive personally and professionally while gaining exposure to unique engineering challenges, mentorship, and opportunities to grow your skills over time.
