About The Position

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to join their staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a government contractor focused on supporting Y-12's mission. While employed by AIS, the day-to-day direction will come from Y-12 staff. AIS will handle pay, benefits, and HR functions. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations for Department of Energy clearance. This position is contingent upon contract award and funding; work cannot begin until funding is confirmed.

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree in a technical field and 6-10 years of related experience or high school diploma and 13-19 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding in area of expertise and associated equipment, processes, or systems.
  • The ability to obtain a Q-clearance will be required.
  • Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution and industrial control systems.
  • Experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
  • Pre-employment Drug Screen.
  • Medical Exam(s).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.
  • Must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting in Bentley MicroStation: One-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, Instrumentation and Controls Diagrams, conduit/cable schedules, fire alarm and communication drawings.
  • Preparing data sheets, specifications, and walkdown reports.
  • Work in concert with electrical engineers and other CAD drafters from the same work group.
  • Support construction and operational activities related to design outputs.
  • Field walkdowns will be required sometimes in radiologically contaminated areas.
