About The Position

Audubon is seeking an Electrical Engineering Supervisor for its Houston, Texas office. The supervisor leads a team of engineers performing electrical engineering assignments related to the design of equipment, components, structures, and systems. The role oversees project delivery, engineering quality and technical accuracy, staff workload and development, client relationships, and adherence to safe design and HSSE requirements. The position may also involve preparing or reviewing specifications, calculations, engineering models, design packages, vendor drawings, and engineering drawings; conducting feasibility studies and site investigations; and visiting job sites or vendor facilities. The supervisor is responsible for staffing and personnel decisions, project resource and budget management, and supporting repeat business opportunities.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited institution preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience preferred.
Large, multi-discipline project lead experience preferred.
Experience with ETAP, SKM, and CARS software preferred.
Prior supervisory experience in an engineering environment preferred.
Working knowledge of electrical equipment design preferred.
Working knowledge of electrical design codes, including NEC, NEMA, API, and IEEE, preferred.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with direct reports, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
Set project expectations and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Ensure direct reports' work meets company quality standards and follows engineering checking and approval procedures.
Check engineering drawings and mathematical calculations, or assign an appropriate checker.
Ensure the quality and technical accuracy of deliverables produced by direct reports.
Oversee safe design practices and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Plan and manage group workload, budgets, project resources, and assistance requests.
Assist in developing internal design guidelines, specifications, and design control procedures.
Assess project feasibility, materials, costs, time requirements, and relevant engineering considerations.
Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules.
Analyze strategies, equations, and applications to ensure appropriate procedures are used; resolve design and development issues.
Manage client relationships and develop repeat business opportunities.
Prepare discipline-specific man-hour and Total Installed Cost estimates based on client-provided scope.
Manage and forecast discipline-specific man-hour requirements and schedules.
Assess project challenges and risks, including construction costs, regulations, environmental hazards, and other factors; take appropriate risk-management steps.
Hire staff, conduct performance evaluations, make salary decisions, address routine grievances and complaints, and potentially initiate disciplinary action.
Approve time entries and expense reports according to company and client policies and procedures.
Advise and assist coworkers and subordinates on work techniques, best practices, and subject-matter expertise.
Set group or project direction and priorities, allocate resources, define roles and assignments, distribute workload, establish deadlines, and set quality expectations.
Comply with company and client HSSE standards and applicable federal and local HSSE regulations.
Participate in hazard identification and observation programs and promptly report unsafe acts, conditions, and incidents.
Monitor staff working conditions and ensure direct reports receive required safety training.
Ensure reportable occupational incidents are reported promptly and assist with investigations and corrective actions.
May prepare advanced specifications, engineering sketches, calculations, and analysis models for project assignments.
May review or approve vendor drawings and engineering design packages for compliance with project requirements.
May conduct technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations, and interact with drafting and design groups to develop and review drawings.
May visit job sites to evaluate project requirements and conditions and vendor facilities to inspect equipment.
May develop, review, or approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages.
