About The Position

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Specialist II with an emphasis on power generation. This role involves multi-discipline projects in hydro, gas, and fossil power generating facilities. Experience with Duke, TVA, Constellation, Dominion, or other power industry companies is desired. The position requires expertise in low and medium voltage power distribution, motor controls, interfacing industrial processes with DCS and/or PLC systems, and proficiency in power distribution system modeling software like ETAP or SKM. The individual must be capable of interpreting, modifying, and developing electrical drawings and documentation, including single lines, AC/DC elementaries, panel front views, wiring diagrams, equipment drawings, and bills of materials. This role demands leadership qualities, including the ability to coordinate engineering and design efforts, collaborate within a team, and confidently lead meetings with peers and clients. Responsibilities may include coordinating with project managers to develop proposals and estimates for bidding on work, with a focus on modifications and upgrades in existing facilities. Experience in relay protection is considered a plus.

Requirements

  • 4 Year BSEE or higher education from ABET accredited school of engineering
  • 6+ years of progressive experience
  • Ability to interpret, modify, and develop single lines, AC/DC elementaries, panel front views, wiring diagrams, equipment drawings, and bills of materials
  • Ability to coordinate engineering and design efforts
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Comfortable being in front of peers and clients leading/conducting meetings
  • Ability to coordinate with project managers and clients to develop proposal documents and estimates
  • Experience in low voltage and medium voltage power distribution
  • Experience in motor controls for both low voltage and medium voltage
  • Experience interfacing industrial processes to DCS and/or PLC systems
  • Experience with power distribution system modeling software (ETAP or SKM)

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering efforts on project design through the different project milestones from start to finish
  • Work and coordinating with project managers to develop proposal documents and estimates for bidding or change orders
  • Work with drafters, designers, and other engineers on preparation and check of design drawings and design packages
  • Perform design analysis on ETAP and/or SKM
  • Participation in occasional site visits, Field walkdowns, or client meetings at client location may be required
  • Strict adherence to electrical codes and standards including NEC
