About The Position

Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Mission Critical Project Manager for their Philadelphia area office. This client-facing role will lead large-scale Mission Critical projects nationally and regionally. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring and developing others, leading project teams, and managing various designs. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise, serving as a staff resource, and supporting sales efforts through client relationship management. This is a dynamic and entrepreneurial position reporting to the Director of Operations, involving client interface, proposal writing, budget management, and ensuring service quality. The role offers significant growth potential.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in engineering consulting or an adjacent field (construction, owner’s representative, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or another relevant field from a 4-year accredited university.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and the latest technologies for MEP systems design of Mission Critical Facilities with an electrical focus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a project manager on select projects in the Mission Critical Sector, including Data Center new builds, renovations, fit-outs, and critical system infrastructure upgrades.
  • Act as a client-facing representative, conducting RFP site visits and writing proposals.
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, execution, and day-to-day operations of internal teams and clients.
  • Provide all management functions including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials.
  • Vet company processes and provide input.
  • Assist project managers across all company locations.
  • Develop a core group of assistant project managers capable of independent project management.
  • Spend most time in the local Philadelphia area, with occasional travel to other Bala offices and infrequent national travel to project sites.
  • Mentor staff and act as a technical resource.
  • Manage and schedule quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
  • Complete internal peer reviews and provide input in multi-discipline page turns across all offices.
  • Manage and schedule page turns prior to major project deliverables.
  • Provide input utilizing sound engineering principles.
  • Review workforce projections and determine staffing needs.
  • Identify strategies to adjust design schedules to align with staffing.
  • Drive ownership, accountability, and culture throughout the company.
  • Interact with partners and executives to support the firm's growth and quality agenda.
  • Identify potential business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop fees for complex projects.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Grow the volume and footprint of the office market sectors.
