Electrical Engineering Manager

REV RoboticsCarrollton, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers in the design and development of hardware for educational robotics. Directly contribute to projects by performing PCB design and layout (Altium) for embedded systems, digital circuits, and motor control solutions. Define hardware architecture, component selection, and roadmaps for products involving brushless/brushed motor control, DC power regulation, and sensor integration. Oversee and communicate with external design partners for high-speed digital, wireless, and mobile products, as well as overseas contract manufacturers (CMs). Occasionally meeting with CMs outside of normal business hours to accommodate time-zone differences. Collaborate closely with the software team to drive embedded design, ensuring hardware maximizes microcontroller features and simplifies software implementation. Collaborate closely with the mechanical team to ensure both mechanical and electrical requirements are balanced and met. Collaborate with the operations, marketing, and customer success teams to develop standard operating procedures, contribute to customer-facing documentation, and allocate resources for tier 2 support when needed. Lead hardware bringup efforts (initial testing of interfaces, power rails, specific features, etc.) and development of comprehensive validation plans for prototypes. Implement DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) principles. Lead the development of factory test fixtures. Develop and implement tight management of component libraries and bills of materials within our ERP system (Odoo). Guide products through compliance processes (UL, CE, FCC) by working with internal teams and external testing labs. Interface with the sourcing team and CMs to identify components and mitigate supply chain risks. Mentor and coach team members and interns, helping them develop their technical skills and careers through mentorship, constructive feedback, and performance reviews.
