About The Position

The Electrical Engineering Manager leads and manages the Electrical Engineering function supporting the design, development, integration, and lifecycle support of power generation equipment and associated electrical systems. This role provides technical leadership across new product development and sustaining engineering, ensures electrical designs meet safety, performance, quality, and applicable industry standards, and works closely with Mechanical, Controls, Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Operations to deliver reliable and manufacturable solutions. The Electrical Engineering Manager also develops engineering standards, mentors the electrical engineering team, and ensures projects are executed effectively from concept and detailed design through commissioning and operational support.

Requirements

  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Ten or more years of progressive electrical engineering experience within power generation, energy, oil and gas, microgrids, or heavy industrial environments.
  • An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Attend, participate in, and successfully complete scheduled New Hire Safety training and annual recertification.
  • Set team priorities, delegate effectively, and manage workload distribution to meet operational and project deadlines.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members across varying experience levels.
  • Manage cross functional communication, ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, and field service teams.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Develop, review, and technically approve electrical engineering deliverables, including single line diagrams, protection one lines, three lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, grounding plans, electrical calculations, and protection philosophies.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of power flow and system operating scenarios for multi generator installations, including normal operation, N 1 conditions, equipment outages, islanded operation, and varying generation/load configurations.
  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership, problem solving, communication, and decision making skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering priorities across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Remain knowledgeable of and compliant with Active Learner, Paycom, KPA, and other company mandated systems.
  • Quickly learn and navigate company platforms.
  • Efficiently use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Five or more years of experience leading, supervising, or providing technical direction to electrical engineering teams.
  • Extensive experience in medium voltage power system design (specifically 13.8 kV), including generators, transformers, switchgear, breakers, bus systems, grounding, and auxiliary power distribution.
  • Knowledge of microgrid architecture, Power Management Systems (PMS), and generator paralleling/control systems (synchronization, load sharing, load shedding, and islanding).
  • Expertise with SEL protection relays and automation platforms, including the development and review of relay coordination studies (settings, time current coordination, and differential protection).
  • Proficiency with ETAP or equivalent power system analysis software for power flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and system stability studies.
  • Experience with gas turbine packages (LM2500, LM6000), reciprocating engines, and GE related controls programs.
  • Experience supporting the full lifecycle of electrical systems, including equipment specification, FAT, commissioning, energization, and technical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and technical oversight for the Electrical Engineering team across new product development, sustaining engineering, and operational support activities.
  • Manage electrical engineering resources, priorities, workload, and deliverables across multiple power generation product lines and projects.
  • Lead the development, review, and approval of electrical designs, including single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, electrical layouts, grounding systems, protection systems, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Ensure electrical systems and designs comply with applicable codes, standards, customer requirements, engineering specifications, and company design practices.
  • Establish and maintain electrical engineering standards, design guidelines, specifications, calculation methods, and standardized engineering processes.
  • Provide technical oversight of power distribution, generation, protection and control, grounding, auxiliary power, motor control, and other electrical systems associated with power generation equipment.
  • Support electrical equipment specification, selection, and technical evaluation, including generators, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, protective relays, cables, and auxiliary electrical equipment.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, technical submittments, calculations, and equipment documentation to ensure compliance with engineering and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Controls, Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Field Operations, and external engineering partners to ensure successful integration of electrical systems into overall product designs.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, FAT, commissioning, and field activities by providing timely engineering direction and resolution of technical issues.
  • Lead electrical root cause analysis and corrective action activities associated with equipment failures, design deficiencies, and field performance issues.
  • Drive design improvements, standardization, cost optimization, reliability improvements, and lessons learned across the electrical product portfolio.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical risk assessments, and engineering change processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Electrical Engineers while establishing clear performance expectations and supporting professional development.
  • Support project planning by developing engineering estimates, schedules, resource requirements, and technical execution strategies.
  • Ensure electrical engineering documentation, drawings, calculations, and design records are properly maintained within company document control and product lifecycle management systems.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, engineering partners, and other external stakeholders on electrical technical matters as required.
  • Communicate engineering progress, technical risks, resource constraints, and significant issues to Engineering leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of engineering ownership, technical excellence, accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
