About The Position

Flywheel energy storage combines power electronics, electric machines, control systems, structural dynamics, and power systems engineering. Our intern will gain early exposure to how these disciplines come together in a real-world product—from concept and testing to documentation and customer support. This internship is designed for early-career engineering students who are curious about power and energy systems and want to learn how engineering work is performed in an industrial environment. While some of the intern's time will be spent assisting engineers with technical tasks, a significant portion of this role involves engineering-adjacent administrative work. This includes organizing data, preparing documentation, and supporting project tracking using Microsoft Office tools. The goal is to help you understand how engineering teams operate day-to-day while building strong professional skills alongside technical fundamentals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field)
  • Interest in power engineering, energy systems, electric machines, or power electronics
  • Comfortable using or willing to learn Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Organized, reliable, and willing to tackle detail-oriented tasks
  • Strong curiosity and a desire to learn how engineering works in practice

Nice To Haves

  • First- or second-year standing preferred but not required
  • Introductory coursework in circuits or energy systems
  • Basic familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
  • Interest in renewable energy, grid infrastructure, or mechanical-electrical systems
  • Fluency in Mandarin

Responsibilities

  • Assisting engineers with data collection and organization from tests and simulations
  • Reviewing schematics, block diagrams, and technical drawings under supervision
  • Helping maintain component lists, test logs, and system documentation
  • Performing basic calculations or checks using provided guidance
  • Creating and updating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Organizing engineering files and version-controlled documents
  • Supporting project schedules, task lists, and internal reports
  • Preparing summary materials for internal design reviews or customer-facing documentation
