About The Position

Hobart, part of the ITW Food Equipment Group, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for its Food Machines division in Troy, Ohio. This role will provide electrical engineering support for innovation projects on meat slicers and planetary mixers, with a focus on embedded systems. The internship offers hands-on experience with prototype electronics, embedded systems development, schematic creation, and R&D project advancement. Interns will work with various electrical components, including DC motors and Variable Frequency Drives, and gain exposure to AC and DC circuit troubleshooting. Collaboration with cross-functional internal teams, including engineers, technicians, and machine operators, is a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field.
• Must be classified as a Junior or Senior school year 2026 to 2027.
• Able to commute to our facility in the Troy, Ohio area for the duration of the internship experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with prototype electronics using Raspberry Pi, Arduino or similar.
• Gain hands-on experience soldering and/or modifying PCBs and test boxes.
• Work with embedded systems to develop code for algorithms including communications, signal processing, etc.
• Create and/or modify electrical schematics.
• Help develop and bring R&D projects, including accessories or main features, closer to production ready.
• Work with DC motors to drive smaller mechanical features as well as with Variable frequency drives to drive AC motors.
• Troubleshoot AC and DC circuits.
• Learn about various electrical and electronics equipment.
• Work with cross functional internal team members including engineers, technicians, and machine operators.
