About The Position

IB Abel is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for the Spring 2026 Semester. This role involves performing general electrical engineering and drafting tasks, as well as other related duties as required by the company. The position is ideal for individuals seeking experience in construction/electrical utility services and who want to join a dedicated, fast-moving team. The intern will be thorough, precise, and a true team player. The role offers flexibility in work location, with a preferred assignment at the York Office or Macungie Office, and the possibility of working from home when appropriate. Occasional travel may be required for training, meetings, and site visits.

Requirements

Enrollment in BSEE/BSEET accredited four-year full-time program.
Possess technical writing ability.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Proficient in the use of MS Office products.
Valid driver’s license required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.
Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of and/or aptitude in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, and Visual.
Interest in electrical power systems engineering field.

Responsibilities

Assist in design of electrical power distribution, lighting, and related systems for commercial, industrial, and substation projects.
Assist in performing electrical engineering calculations and studies.
Coordinate with other engineering, architectural, and construction disciplines.
Coordinate with electric utility companies.
Perform field observations and survey activities.
Perform Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) work.
Interact with customers to investigate and provide recommendations regarding power quality issues.
Copy, scan, and assemble print jobs.
Assist in job takeoff and estimating.
