About The Position

Stantec is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for its Texas Buildings practice for Summer 2027. The practice provides buildings engineering, architecture, and interior design services, with a focus on high-performance, award-winning, timeless, intelligent, and sustainable buildings and interiors. The intern will work in a multidisciplinary team with architects, engineers, interior designers, and project managers to support design development and integrated solutions for clients. Under the direction of senior staff, the intern will assist with building systems design, BIM modeling, calculations, drawing documentation, and management of drawing sets.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Ability to perform basic calculations and a basic understanding of engineering concepts.
• Basic understanding of floor plans, one-lines, and details.
• Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of the junior year.
• Basic experience with Autodesk Revit or other modeling/drafting software.
• Basic experience with design software such as Trane Trace or EQuest.
• Familiarity with electrical, lighting, and technology design in the built environment.
• Working knowledge of CAD MEP and Revit MEP.
• Related project or internship experience.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, codes, and similar materials at a basic level.
• Support design in the electrical, mechanical, or structural discipline using BIM technologies to develop three-dimensional building and component models under the direction of senior staff.
• Perform basic calculations and layouts to analyze and design individual building-system components.
• Work with project managers and technical design staff to prepare and revise documentation across engineering phases, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, building sections, details, energy models, and calculations.
• Create electronic data files in compliance with Stantec and client requirements.
• Convert redlines into document-ready work.
• Publish, post, and manage drawing sets.
• Maintain drawing revisions.
