About The Position

Kimley-Horn is looking for Electrical Engineering students to join our Charlotte, North Carolina (NC) office's Renewable Energy team. Our Electrical teams work on a wide variety of projects, such as photometrics and lighting, power distribution, EV charging, and more. This internship offers exposure to solar/energy projects with a focus in battery storage and PV. Interns will assist with technical specification and report writing, electrical equipment cost research, and utilize technical software programs to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables. The role involves solving complex problems, assisting project managers, and collaborating across disciplines. Interns will also develop familiarity with relevant regulations and company practices.

Requirements

  • In the process of receiving an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering Degree (Bachelors or Masters)

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to solar/energy projects with a focus in battery storage and PV.
  • Assist with technical specification and report writing electrical equipment cost research.
  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
  • Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
