The primary focus of the internship is to support senior electrical staff in the design of electrical power distribution, motor control, lighting, communications, and grid tied DER systems through calculations, modeling, and developing design plans. The successful candidate will learn typical engineering tasks related to the design and then perform these tasks on their own and review the results of the assignment with senior staff.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with two to three years of study

Nice To Haves

  • 0-1 year of electrical engineering and design internship or work experience
  • US Power electric utility is a plus
  • Basic understanding of distribution power design
  • Proficient in Revit AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Visual lighting software, Elumtools

Responsibilities

  • Assist with researching, analyzing, and developing solutions to client-specific challenges within the water, wastewater, and broader industrial sectors.
  • Support electrical engineering design activities such as load calculations, generator sizing, voltage drop analysis, fault current calculations, and the modeling of electrical, lighting, and solar photovoltaic systems.
  • Contribute to the preparation of electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, AC and DC elementary drawings, motor control schematics, and floor plans.
  • Assist with cost estimates.
  • Review construction submittals and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with senior staff to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel to client sites to observe and support the implementation of engineering designs.
