About The Position

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead with an electrical engineering and instrumentation & controls background to be based in the Denver, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah, Phoenix or Tucson, Arizona to support mining projects and to help lead and build a team of electrical engineers to support mining projects. This role provides technical leadership for a specialty and is considered to be a fully capable professional in their field. The individual will apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, make decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represent the organization in conferences. They will resolve important questions and plan and coordinate work, utilizing advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments. Provides project leadership in the areas of instrumentation & controls, electrical engineering and design, investigations, and analysis on multi-disciplinary mining projects. Serves as lead electrical engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large-size projects. Coordinates and directs staff on designs, specifications, drawings, figures, reports, and calculations on multi-discipline design efforts. Works with existing and potential clients to provide instrumentation & controls, electrical engineering and design solutions for mining projects. Develops project proposals and works with the mining business leader to support and grow the Mining practice. Provides direction and mentoring to technical staff in completing project tasks. Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. Presents complex technical solutions to clients. Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the electrical and Instrumentation and control designs of mine projects. Provides advice and consultation to clients on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Professional Engineering License (PE).
A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
Demonstrated progressive experience in electrical engineering, design, modeling, and construction documentation.
Progressive project experience including task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projects.
Ability to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationships.
Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and people skills
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
Initiative-taking on assignments and demonstrate initiative.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.
Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.

Nice To Haves

PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or ability to acquire a PE in additional states.
On-site field experience in commissioning and start-ups for facilities
Master’s in electrical engineering or related field of study
10+ years or more of relevant experience
MSHA New Miner training

Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings.
Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings.
Estimate and scope electrical engineering projects.
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule.
Track and manage task budgets and schedules.
Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.
