About The Position

Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineering Associate I to design and/or check deliverables associated with high-voltage substations. Typical deliverables include single-line diagrams, control-house layouts, panel front views, elementary and/or schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, nameplate drawings, bills of materials, cable schedules, and construction turnover documentation. The successful candidate is required to report to the Knoxville office. The role works under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers. It involves applying engineering principles and practices, determining design approaches, preparing design documents, and checking technical deliverables for compliance with IEEE and/or client standards and applicable design requirements. The job description also outlines responsibilities involving project objectives, estimates, requirements, and design approaches for large or complex projects.

Responsibilities

Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy.
Work under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers.
Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to project requirements.
Work with the Project Engineer and Program Manager to define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and define project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects.
Determine design approaches and work with the design team to prepare required design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Conceptualize the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or take overall responsibility for engineering work on a routine project.
Perform technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents.
Ensure deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.
