The Electrical Engineer investigates electrical failures and losses, determines cause and origin, and documents findings in detailed reports. Cases may involve fires, equipment and appliance failures, lightning and surge damage, wiring and code issues, or product defects. The firm’s clients include insurance carriers, attorneys, and property owners who need evidence-based conclusions. The engineer manages several active projects at once and serves as Engineer of Record on their own files and on work completed by Associate Engineers. The position reports to the Engineering Manager. It is salaried and exempt, with a home-office base and travel to assigned field sites. The minimum billable workload is 32 hours per week; hours above that floor earn comp time. The schedule is flexible, with additional hours during peak demand and backlog. Advancement is supported through additional training, mentoring, and certifications, which the engineer is expected to pursue. Field work may involve sites in varying conditions, including burned-out structures. The engineer has authority not to work at a site that triggers the firm’s safety protocol. The role requires regular physical activity, including standing, lifting, climbing, balancing, bending, crawling, reaching, working with the hands, and extended driving.
