About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support its Oak Ridge, TN office. This role involves performing electrical engineering design and construction support functions, including facility assessment, scoping, estimating, conceptual design, detailed design of drawings and specifications, and cost estimating. Construction support duties include dispositioning NCRs, assessing existing designs, responding to RFIs, and issuing Design Change Notices. The position also requires coordination with Quality for inspections, supporting the development of electrical subcontract scopes of work, and providing services during bidding and construction such as answering RFIs, bid review, shop drawing review, site visits, commissioning support, hosting progress meetings, and project closeout.

Requirements

  • BS-Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution
  • FE License
  • Three (3) or more years of electrical engineering design experience
  • Construction support experience for Title 3 activities
  • Sole US citizenship required
  • Short Circuit Analysis experience
  • Some knowledge of the NEC
  • Experience working in groups of engineers and designers on projects
  • Experience of leading technical discussions with clients

Nice To Haves

  • PE License
  • DOE experience desired
  • NQA-1 experience desired
  • Arc Flash Analysis experience
  • Familiarity with Instrumentation & Controls interface
  • Knowledge of electrical systems is required, including power system design, load centers, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design and equipment selection
  • Ability to produce sizing calculations and other analyses/reports is desired.
  • Experience in providing construction support or services during construction is desired.
  • Ability to author proposals and Statements of work is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of electrical engineering design and construction support functions.
  • Survey and assess existing facilities, and scope and estimate engineering effort.
  • Conduct field work to assess existing conditions.
  • Write reports, perform conceptual design, and develop drawings, specifications, and calculation analyses.
  • Assist with cost estimating.
  • Provide construction support, including dispositioning NCRs, assessing existing designs, responding to RFIs, and issuing Design Change Notices.
  • Coordinate with Quality on inspections.
  • Support the development of Scopes of work for electrical subcontracts.
  • Provide services during bidding and construction, including answering requests for information, bid review, shop drawing review, site visits during construction, commissioning support, hosting progress meetings, and project closeout.
