About The Position

McKinley Architecture and Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (PE) to join their team. This is a full-time position within the engineering department, designed for someone who can "hit the ground running" in a dynamic role. The engineer will work directly with engineering and architectural staff, as well as clients. This position is ideal for an individual with strong technical skills who can lead design processes in alignment with the firm’s vision and standards. MKA is a multi-discipline, full-service firm offering architectural, engineering, and construction administration services across multiple offices. The firm has a strong history in educational, commercial/retail, industrial, governmental, and institutional building design. Recent expansions into sports design and a merger with MCF Architecture have created new opportunities and established the combined company as a regional powerhouse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification
  • 10+ years of experience designing building electrical systems including utility power, building distribution, lighting, low voltage data, fire alarm, access and security
  • Depth of knowledge in NEC and all relevant IBBC codes, including life safety
  • Exceptional design skills with a proficiency in Revit and other computer-aided design software
  • Strong communicator that can speak design concepts to both client and colleague

Responsibilities

  • Design building electrical systems including utility power, building distribution, lighting, low voltage data, fire alarm, access and security. This includes equipment selections, and authoring equipment and product specifications.
  • Develop trade-related portions of overall project budgets, ensuring that project goals, design criteria, and schedule requirements are met.
  • Adhere to the requirements of current building codes and industry standards, and staying up-to-date with revisions and changes as they are adopted.
  • Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of assigned project designs.
  • Provide a high level of technical leadership, helping build the knowledge and competency of colleagues.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams that include project managers, engineers, and architects to achieve a superior work product.
