About The Position

Salas O’Brien is hiring an Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and other special systems. The engineer will work on projects across sectors such as K-12 and higher education, healthcare, institutional, and commercial facilities. Projects include renovations of existing facilities, new facilities, modernization work, and beneficial electrification projects. The position is based in New York City.

Requirements

• At least 3–5 years of electrical design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with K-12, higher education, healthcare, and commercial markets in the New York market.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines, including proficiency with the National Electrical Code.
• Excellent work ethic and attitude.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
• Interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to solve problems effectively and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Design lighting, power, and life-safety electrical systems for facility renovations, new facilities, and modernization projects.
• Conduct load sizing and determine service requirements for beneficial electrification projects.
• Work on electrical projects and perform quality assurance and quality control of design work.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines.
• Provide technical mentorship to less-experienced engineers.
