About The Position

Progressive Design, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer with mid to senior level experience for a full-time, direct-hire position located in Midlothian, VA (Richmond, VA area). The role involves performing electrical design duties on assigned projects, including power distribution, machine control design, and instrument and control design. The engineer will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients to develop safe, compliant, effective, and cost-effective solutions. Responsibilities also include developing construction cost estimates, creating materials lists, obtaining quotations, assisting with schedules and specifications, performing fieldwork and technical research, supporting constructability reviews, maintaining project design files, certifying deliverable products, allocating tasks, and tracking budgets and schedules for multiple concurrent design activities.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited undergraduate program
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in heavy industrial field (10+ for senior)
  • Experience with AutoCAD software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Performing electrical design duties on assigned projects including power distribution, machine control design, and instrument and control design.
  • Working closely and developing working relationships with Project Managers, Engineers and Clients toward developing and executing safe, compliant, effective and cost-effective solutions.
  • Understanding Company and Client standards, developing electrical power, controls and instrumentation integration concepts through final project documentation requirements.
  • Developing Construction Cost Estimates.
  • Creating materials lists and obtaining quotations for design components.
  • Assisting Engineers and Project Managers in developing schedules, specifications, design concepts.
  • Performing fieldwork and technical research.
  • Understanding of field construction phases and supporting constructability reviews.
  • Maintaining project design files; including supplemental vendor documentation and calculation sheets.
  • Certifying accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborating with Engineers and Project Managers toward allocating tasks within department resources.
  • Maintaining budget and schedule tracking on multiple concurrent assigned design activities.
