1X is building humanoid robots designed to perform household chores and tasks, aiming to give people back their time. This requires solving complex challenges in robotics, AI, and manufacturing simultaneously, at scale, and in a safe form factor for home environments. The company has been developing these robots since 2014 and is now focused on shipping its flagship product, NEO, a home robot designed for real-world operation alongside people. The Hardware Engineering team is responsible for the electrical foundation of NEO, developing systems for actuator electronics, sensing, power distribution, and embedded control. This team collaborates across the full product lifecycle, from initial design to production and field deployment, working closely with firmware, controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering.
