About The Position

The engineer will lead teams/projects that solve moderately complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Able to work independently, with guidance. Position reports to the UI DER Unit Manager and support department needs as required.

Requirements

BS or BT in Engineering related field and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
Basic Knowledge of the various operating systems and programs used by the department.
Diagnostic and problem-solving skills to detect unique technical and analytical problems.
Strong communication skills to articulate highly technical concepts.
Extensive interpersonal skills to work as part of a team.
General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery.
Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.
Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgment to determine optimal solutions.
Awareness and understanding of key business drivers
Ability to devise solutions to both common and complex problems/challenges.
Where appropriate, technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role within a utility environment.

Responsibilities

Solve moderately complex Distributed Generation (DG) problems.
Utilizes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. (e.g. Customer generators, photovoltaic systems, fuel cells).
Approve, maintain, & understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams, site plans).
Develop & specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of complex level of difficulty using depth & breadth of expertise in own discipline.
Manage and provide direction for resources outside of the department/company.
Possess knowledge within DG industry and interpret processes and standards related to DG systems.
Recommend solutions and best practices where appropriate.
Perform standard electrical engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology and principles and other viable approaches.
Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services.
Solve straightforward electrical engineering problems.
Analyze possible solutions and assess each using standard procedures related to lines and power engineering.
Support technical requests from current and proposed customers with regards to generator interconnections.
