About The Position

Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan | Foran is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working either a 7/7 or 14/14 rotation. Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan | Foran is advancing the McIlvenna Bay project, a cornerstone asset and one of the most significant copper development projects in Canada. With commercial production expected in mid-2026, this world-class deposit contains copper, zinc, gold, and silver – key metals for the global transition to green energy. The Electrical Engineer provides technical and documentation assistance to the engineering, operation and construction management teams for the surface and underground construction of the project through into operations. This role supports the coordination of design documents of the electrical discipline, assists in field engineering activities, and ensures construction and maintenance work complies with plans, specifications, and applicable standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.Eng. in Saskatchewan or eligible for registration with APEGS.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in mining or mineral processing (hard rock preferred).
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems in mill or mine environments.
  • Skilled in SCADA/PLC, troubleshooting, and control logic.
  • Familiar with arc flash, LOTO, grounding, and bonding safety programs.
  • Proficient with ETAP or SKM, and AutoCAD.
  • Effective communicator with strong team collaboration skills.
  • Able to work in remote/rotational settings and pass medical/safety screening.
  • Experience with hard rock milling (flotation or gravity circuits).
  • Knowledge of reliability-based maintenance and condition monitoring.
  • Background in energy management, power factor correction, or power quality.
  • Experience working in Saskatchewan or similar northern/remote regions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and upgrade underground electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, pumps, ventilation fans, and BEV charging stations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with CEC, CSA, and Saskatchewan OH&S Regulations.
  • Oversee electrical systems in the mill, including crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, filtration, and tailings.
  • Maintain MCCs, VFDs, conveyors, pumps, process instrumentation, power distribution, standby power, lighting, and HVAC controls.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and emergency repairs with mill teams.
  • Support and optimize PLC/SCADA control systems.
  • Maintain electrical documentation (P&IDs, wiring diagrams, lockout procedures).
  • Analyze performance and power use to improve efficiency and reduce outages.
  • Lead/support electrical aspects of capital projects and site expansions.
  • Conduct arc flash studies and ensure updated single line drawings.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the Electrical Standards Assurance Committee.
  • Mentor trades and junior engineers on safety and standards.
  • Collaborate with mine and mill teams to support operationss.
