About The Position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking an NCEES Professional Licensed Electrical Engineer in our Virginia Beach office. The right candidate will have experience in planning and design power systems of Industrial and interior facilities including office layouts, manufacturing areas, warehouse areas, HVAC system power, and other related infrastructure supporting MEP projects. Successful candidates would join our growing practice providing electrical MEP expertise, engineering, and solutions to clients in the facilities and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities: You will work closely with other architects, multidiscipline engineers, and designers as a part of the Kennedy Jenks Technical Services Team. This role will involve working in a multidisciplinary team to provide solutions for a wide variety of clients throughout the United States – focused on Virginia area. Support multi-disciplinary teams on electrical engineering projects for MEP and Industrial nature – support to other water and wastewater projects will be available. Perform calculations for voltage drop, electrical load studies, system power flow, standby generator sizing, UPS sizing, fault study calculations, and protective device coordination Perform power system design and studies including preparation of load flow, short circuit, protective relaying coordination and arc-flash hazard analysis. Use of SKM or ETAP. Conduit schedules, conductor sizing, bus ducts, panel schedules, and HVAC equipment power schedules. Contribute to conceptual report writing and preparation of construction plans and specifications. Working on REVIT and AUTOCAD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) or BIM to assist in production of final design documents. Coordinate (Building Automation Systems) BAS or Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and associated logic diagrams with control schematics for assorted process equipment. Work on lighting design, lighting calculations AGI32, Public Announcement A/V systems, data/telecom, fire alarm system design, and other specialty services supporting MEP spaces. Technical services also will likely include electrical power systems for generation and distribution, cabling (cable trays and conduits) and wiring, switchboards, service entrance, panelboards, motor control centers, communications systems, grounding and lightning protection, etc. Review and coordination with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). NFPA codes and standards, other industry standards as required by the project. Review Contractor’s shop drawing and submittals regarding electrical work and investigating and developing engineered solutions to Contractor’s Requests for Information. Able to meet client require workshops, meetings, and site visits in the Virginia Area.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of seven years of experience required, after graduation. Preferably in Industrial, interior facilities, and MEP related projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience on coordination with other disciplines such as client, architect, other engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to prepare complete, concise and organized engineering calculations and analyses
  • REVIT design proficiency is required for this position.
  • AutoCAD and advanced 3D/BIM modeling capabilities along with the ability to produce 2D construction documents.
  • Active PE license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional states through reciprocity.
