About The Position

Techno is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for the PANYNJ to join the Engineering Department's Quality Assurance Division, Design Standards Unit. The Electrical Engineer will review electrical design documents for tenant projects and Port Authority facilities, including medium-voltage systems, to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and Port Authority technical standards.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York and/or New Jersey required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of diverse experience with building electrical codes and systems, including medium-voltage systems (over 600 volts), fire alarm systems, cathodic protection, and radio frequency.
  • Strong understanding of electrical disciplines related to the design and construction of transportation and related facilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and serve as a liaison between tenants, facilities, and internal reviewers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability and willingness to learn various internal and external software platforms, including SharePoint, Trimble, and Adobe Reader.

Responsibilities

  • Review electronic TAA submissions, construction documents, electrical load and service calculations, specifications, and technical reports for completeness and compliance.
  • Review electrical designs, including medium-voltage systems above 600 volts, for tenant projects and Port Authority design audits.
  • Coordinate review comments from multiple technical disciplines and prepare memoranda for transmitting comments to line departments.
  • Attend meetings with Tenant Architects/Engineers of Record to discuss review comments, resolve technical issues, and facilitate project progress.
  • Assign appropriate technical disciplines for code and design reviews.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Port Authority facilities and internal stakeholders to process TAA and design audit projects.
  • Serve as a liaison between Port Authority tenants, facilities, and in-house application reviewers to support an efficient review workflow.
