About The Position

At Coffman Engineers, we operate as both prime and sub consultant on a diverse range of projects, including commercial, retail, institutional, government, and industrial sectors, along with project/construction management. Established in 1979, our team spans over 23 locations, serving clients across the U.S. and internationally. We form multidisciplinary teams comprising civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and corrosion control engineers, as well as project/construction managers and specialty service professionals, to meet client objectives and integrate our various disciplines. Coffman Engineers is actively seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with eight to twelve years of consulting engineering experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering innovative design solutions and eager to contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will engage in a variety of challenging projects, provide support to our electrical engineering group, and collaborate with other disciplines throughout the firm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (required)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and lighting system design for diverse building types
  • Must have SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical modeling software experience
  • The focus of the experience must be in the power industry associated with electrical engineering and design of Industrial, higher education, healthcare, and/or commercial projects
  • Must be familiar with electrical/energy codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NESC, IEEE, IESNA, IECC, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams
  • Desire and capability to lead projects and coordinate across multiple disciplines
  • Willingness to travel for occasional site visits
  • Must be able to work in the office four(4) days a week

Nice To Haves

  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
  • Knowledge of local codes and standards (preferred)
  • Experience with local contractors, architects, and construction practices (preferred)
  • Experience with medium-voltage distribution, generation, and protection systems (preferred)
  • Experience with lighting design (preferred)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and related design software (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical and lighting plans, specifications, and technical reports
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives as needed
