About The Position

The Electrical Engineer in projects organization will be responsible for Substation designs across major capital projects, while also contributing to engineering standards and training initiatives. This role will oversee the engineering activities for the assigned project portfolio, ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations, adheres to company standards, and is executed with consistency and technical excellence. Position reports to the Unit Manager, but the position will work day-to-day in a cross-functional project team and support project needs as dictated by the Project Manager and Unit Manager. Experience with substation design and single-line diagrams and knowledge of national and international standards, regulations, and compliance requirements associated with power system protection.

  • Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")
  • Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
  • Ability to review engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required
  • 3 years minimum relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Project detailed engineering, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles including all phases such as: scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, engineering design, construction, and closeout.
  • Maintain, & understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams, etc,).
  • Develop & specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of projects using depth & breadth of expertise in own discipline.
  • Perform electrical engineering analyses and design using established methods and principles.
  • Contribute to alternate design concepts under guidance to resolve challenges or improve processes.
  • Assist in solving engineering challenges by analyzing potential solutions using standard procedures related to lines and power systems.
  • Ensure all engineering designs implemented by the company meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Work independently although supervision might be required.
