About The Position

Carlisle Construction Materials is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work at its Greenville, Illinois facility. The role handles or supervises engineering projects as directed by the Manager of Engineering, including estimating costs; designing and laying out projects; specifying materials and installation requirements; obtaining bids for equipment and labor; and supervising installation and startup. Projects range from minor modifications to large equipment installations. The engineer also supports maintenance personnel with electrical troubleshooting involving PLCs, HMIs, and other advanced electrical devices, and is accountable for instructing and monitoring personnel’s safety, particularly under Lockout/Tagout and Arc Flash/Electrical Safety programs. The position divides time between engineering activities and other plant duties. Engineering work includes designing equipment modifications and installations, troubleshooting equipment, planning and communicating modifications, preparing fabrication and installation sketches, defining and ordering parts, writing reports, tracking project status, reviewing maintenance activities, and creating or updating drawings in CAD. Other duties include participating in plant initiatives related to safety, cost savings, and continuous improvement. Approximately 70% of work time is spent in a climate-controlled, relatively clean and quiet office; the remaining 30% is in the manufacturing plant. The role can be stressful and fast-paced, including periods requiring intense focus to resolve machine failures safely. The engineer may manage multiple projects and priorities, work beyond core hours depending on project needs, and occasionally receive off-hours calls to support production or facility safety. Core hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The position has no direct reports, although it may require supervising maintenance or production operators.

Requirements

  • Effective written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to operate electrical troubleshooting equipment, including a multimeter, megger, oscilloscope, current probe, and computer.
  • Ability to understand and modify PLCs, VFDs, safety controllers, and other electrical control devices, and train others on them.
  • Ability to work in a team, work well with others, and manage priorities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform the physical activities described, including sitting, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the campus and facilities.
