About The Position

The AES Corporation, a leading global power company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to become an in-house subject matter expert on AES Indiana meters and metering equipment. This role involves managing metering programs, software specifications, equipment testing, and providing technical leadership for various initiatives. The engineer will also be involved in project management, contract review, and collaboration with meter manufacturers and vendors. This position is crucial for ensuring AES Indiana adheres to ANSI standards for metering and for supporting the procurement and forecasting of new metering equipment. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in power systems, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an accredited college and/or university.
  • Two years related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Become the in-house subject matter expert on AES Indiana meters/metering equipment, including residential, C&I, solar, and generation metering.
  • Serve as the in-house subject matter expert for all metering programs, software specifications, development, testing of new equipment, and training.
  • Provide research, analysis, recommendations, and technical project leadership for initiatives and activities.
  • Perform project management, including evaluating bid proposals and assessing meter and equipment material needs.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to the technology metering team.
  • Prepare and/or review contracts and standards.
  • Participate in meetings to provide technical guidance, background, and assistance.
  • Work with meter manufacturers and vendors on development and troubleshooting issues.
  • Remain current with all metering systems.
  • Effectively collaborate with internal teams to deliver on expectations.
  • Work with the metering management team on budgeting for meters and equipment.
  • Support the Company in the evaluation, procurement, and forecasting of new meters, instrument transformers, and new AMI network equipment.
  • Work with L&G and the technology metering team SMEs to support data requests involving meter program changes.
  • Develop and implement new metering standards.
  • Participate in and contribute to product training.
  • Learn and ensure adherence to all ANSI standards pertaining to metering.
  • Direct and/or support the activities of others in the department related to installation, checkout, programming, configuration, troubleshooting, and testing of new metering and AMI network equipment.
  • Provide direct assistance to electronic metering technicians in programming, testing, installation, and troubleshooting of various meters, metering software, and metering instrument transformers.
  • Set up correct meter configurations and applicable test procedures for test equipment.
  • Analyze customer installation-specific diagnostic data and recommend corrections.
  • Develop engineering processes and testing procedures impacted by changes in metering configurations, firmware, AMI head-end application releases, newly discovered hardware/firmware defects, and field investigations.
