About The Position

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for analyzing machine functionality, creating functional specifications, and designing electrical systems for customer machines. This role involves selecting appropriate electronic components, designing electrical panel layouts, and developing necessary documentation. The engineer will collaborate with controls programmers, assist service and assembly departments with electrical debugging both on-site and in the field, and report any safety concerns. Additionally, the position involves documenting electrical standards, assisting with manual writing, and contributing to research and development of new products, including testing new product ideas with controls programmers. Field support includes troubleshooting machines via phone or on-site visits. Other assigned tasks may also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Electrical Engineering; in lieu of a four-year degree a two year technical degree with five years of experience in electrical controls systems is required.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Able to read, understand, analyze, and problem-solve electrical drawings and related engineering software programs.
  • Working knowledge in the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 79, and Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) 508A.
  • Knowledge in mechatronics, machine control sensing, and sizing of servos.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to assist assembly personnel and co-workers on machine function or design.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.
  • Well organized with an aptitude for details.
  • Works independently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain a positive workplace environment under stressful situations.
  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods, including performing extensive computer tasks.
  • Be on-site at Delkor 80% of the regular work week.

  • Experience and/or familiarity with SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze how a machine will function and creates functional specifications.

  • Assist service and assembly departments with electrical debugging of machines being put together on the floor and occasionally in the field at a customer location.
  • Report machine or plant safety concerns to the department manager.
  • Document electrical standards for panel construction and machine assembly.
  • Assist in writing service/operating manuals for machines.
  • Assist on research and development of new products.
  • Assist controls programmer with software programs to test new product ideas.
  • Assist Service Department in troubleshooting machines in the field via telephone or while on-site at the customer’s facility.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
