About The Position

HX5 is currently seeking an Engineer to support facility electrical requirements and plans at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico. This role involves serving as the electrical technical authority for the 704th Test Group, providing expert analysis and engineering recommendations for systems operating from 208V up to medium voltage (15kV class). The position also acts as a technical advisor for major construction efforts, advising senior leaders on projects valued up to $1B, and leads electrical studies to improve energy management, fire prevention, and reduce maintenance lifecycle costs. The engineer will assume ownership of a $25M-$50M electrical project portfolio, responsible for pre-award functions, and prepare technical specifications, design, cost estimates, and programming documents for a 3-5 year financial plan supporting 280 facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within six (6) months of start date.
  • Must be able to travel, including air travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • Writing statements of work and cost estimates for facility electrical projects
  • Experience with RS Means cost estimating software or equivalent
  • Experience with “BUILDER” Sustainment Management Systems (SMS) or similar system

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the electrical technical authority for the 704th Test Group on all matters of facility electrical power, providing expert analysis and decisive engineering recommendations for systems operating from 208V up to medium voltage (15kV class).
  • Act as technical advisor for major construction efforts, deconflicting existing facility requirements with new designs and advising senior leaders on projects valued up to $1B.
  • Lead electrical studies to improve energy management, fire prevention, reduction of maintenance lifecycle costs, and transformation of antiquated facilities into state-of-the art modernized facilities that meet modern workplace standards.
  • Assume full ownership of a $25M-$50M electrical project portfolio, responsible for all pre-award functions including writing Statements of Work, Independent Government Estimates, and preparing contractual documents.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design, cost estimates, and programming documents to develop a perpetual 3–5-year financial plan for electrical systems supporting 280 facilities.
