About The Position

Peter Lucas Project Management is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support heavy industrial mining projects. The role involves executing electrical engineering work for major capital and sustaining capital projects, including electrical system design and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. A strong commitment to safety and sound engineering judgment is essential. This is a rotational site-based position (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 11-hour days) with travel provided from Saskatoon to remote site camps. Compensation is negotiable and will reflect the rotational schedule, site conditions, and experience level. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility.
  • 4–9 years of experience in mining, industrial, or heavy infrastructure environments.
  • Experience developing Scopes of Work (SOW) for electrical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of ETAP power system modeling (asset).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to travel to Saskatoon to connect with scheduled flights.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong personal safety culture and comply with all safety programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform electrical design for low, medium, and high voltage systems, including power distribution, motor control, and generation systems.
  • Apply mining and heavy industrial electrical design standards and best practices.
  • Independently lead electrical engineering scope on assigned projects and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Develop and review Scopes of Work (SOW) for electrical installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination).
  • Prepare and update engineering deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and equipment lists.
  • Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and vendor/shop drawing reviews.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
