Electrical Engineer — Electrical Pre-Assignment

SSOE, Inc.•Chandler, AZ
•$70,000 - $90,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Within SSOE’s Tool Install division, the Electrical Engineer — Electrical Pre-Assignment supports high-tech tool installation design for a diverse range of clients and markets. The role owns the integrity of the electrical pre-assignment database used for semiconductor process tool hookup design. It ensures that each tool’s electrical points of connection (POCs) are correctly assigned, capacity-validated, physically available in the field, and aligned with construction scope and schedule. The engineer coordinates across equipment design, electrical system owners, project discipline engineers, A/E partners, and the client to keep pre-assignment data accurate as layouts evolve, tool scope changes, and supplier data arrives. The position also involves field walks, issue escalation, and participation in weekly Electrical Working Group meetings. SSOE provides responsible access to industry-leading AI large language models and vibe-coding platforms, with training and support to use AI tools to improve productivity, creativity, and complex workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution for industrial or high-tech facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, panel schedules, equipment layouts, and supplier tool utility and connection specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD or a CAD viewer, Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, and Outlook), and a PDF markup and collaboration tool such as Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering data management, including tracking large sets of connection and capacity records, controlling revisions, and maintaining traceability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate across stakeholder groups and escalate issues clearly and constructively.
  • Willingness and ability to conduct routine field walks in an active construction and/or cleanroom environment, including use of required PPE.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it relates to tool pre-assignment activities, including circuit sizing, system capacity, and equipment/component ratings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the completeness and accuracy of the electrical pre-assignment database for equipment design, including POC tags, panel and breaker assignments, load data, and tool-connection-to-facility-POC mapping.
  • Evaluate and incorporate POC and capacity impacts arising from layout revisions, tool scope changes, new supplier data, and facilities equipment installations; communicate downstream effects.
  • Coordinate electrical POC and capacity requirements with construction scope and schedule; identify gaps, conflicts, and long-lead risks, and escalate them for resolution.
  • Work daily with electrical system owners, project discipline engineers, A/E firms, and/or the client to resolve open issues and drive timely database updates.
  • Conduct regular field walks to validate the physical availability of assigned POCs, identify anomalies, propose resolutions, and escalate issues for closure.
  • Attend weekly Electrical Working Group meetings and present pre-assignment status, open issues, and capacity constraints.
  • Identify and communicate proposals to improve the pre-assignment process, data quality controls, and cross-discipline project coordination.
