About The Position

Leidos is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the Cargo Mission Contract (CMC) team in Houston, Texas. The role supports the design, development, integration, and testing of electrical hardware for NASA and commercial space programs, including the International Space Station, Human Landing System, and future lunar exploration missions. The engineer works with multidisciplinary engineering and technician teams to develop electrical systems and components for spaceflight applications.

The position covers the full hardware development lifecycle, from requirements definition and circuit design through fabrication, assembly, integration, verification, and testing. The successful candidate will bring electrical design experience and hands-on hardware development skills, independently address complex technical challenges, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating electrical or electronic hardware for spaceflight or other safety-critical applications.
• Proficiency with OrCAD for schematic capture, circuit board design, and PCB layout, including breadboard development and Gerber file generation.
• Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable harness design, printed circuit boards, and electronic assemblies.
• Knowledge of DC-to-DC power conversion, DC power filtering, and electrical power distribution.
• Experience supporting electrical hardware through design, fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing.
• Hands-on experience with electronic laboratory equipment, circuit prototyping, printed wiring board testing, and electronic assembly.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to independently identify and resolve complex technical problems.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, including working across engineering disciplines and participating in technical design reviews.
• Ability to work independently and manage technical assignments with minimal supervision.
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required per the contract.
• Must be able to pass a Public Trust background check.

Nice To Haves

• At least 2 years of experience developing hardware for spaceflight projects, including spacecraft, satellites, or payloads.
• Familiarity with NASA specifications and standards for electrical hardware, printed circuit board assembly, cable harness manufacturing, and testing.
• Knowledge of electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) requirements for spaceflight hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical hardware for spaceflight applications, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable harnesses, printed circuit boards, and electronic assemblies.
• Design and integrate electrical circuits involving DC-to-DC power conversion, DC power filtering, and power distribution.
• Support electrical hardware through requirements definition, design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, verification, and testing.
• Develop circuit schematics and PCB layouts using OrCAD, from breadboard prototyping through Gerber file generation, fabrication, and assembly.
• Conduct hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of electrical circuits, printed wiring boards, and electronic assemblies using laboratory test equipment.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and embedded systems engineers and technicians to develop, integrate, and troubleshoot spaceflight hardware.
• Support engineering design reviews and program milestones, including System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).
• Investigate technical issues, evaluate design alternatives, and develop engineering solutions with minimal supervision.
