About The Position

BWSR is the overhaul Program Subcontractor at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho Falls, ID. The main project areas at the site include remediation of historical research facilities, characterization of site-infrastructure to support on-going maintenance and construction. Your Day to Each day as an Electrical Engineer involves performing detailed electrical engineering in support of construction, facility modification, and infrastructure upgrade projects at NRF. You will prepare and revise work procedures, calculations, electrical drawings, and related technical documentation. You will provide engineering support for electrical power distribution systems, equipment modifications, and facility improvements. Ensure assigned engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and site requirements. Support multidisciplined project teams and coordinate with operations, project management, safety, radiological controls, environmental, procurement, quality, and other disciplines. Conduct field walkdowns, technical reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering evaluations in support of project execution. Review drawings, specifications, vendor submittments, and other technical documents for adequacy and compliance. Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and engineers from other disciplines, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program and a minimum of four years of engineering experience is required.
  • Power systems engineering experience is required.
  • Experience preparing electrical drawings, engineering packages, work procedures, calculations, and technical documentation is required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, and other applicable industry standards, is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship is not permitted.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance; current clearance is a plus.
  • Must obtain and maintain Radiological Controls and other qualifications as directed by Naval Reactors.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer license from Idaho or any other state is highly desired.
  • Master’s degree is desirable.
  • Previous experience in DOE, naval nuclear, or other highly regulated environment is desirable.
